CLUB MAKOS COACHING STAFF

Club Makos is fortunate to be coached by professionals that have more combined experience than any team along the Gulf Coast.  Their experiences range from coaching beginning swimmers through Junior National, National, World, and Olympic Champions.  Each of these individuals is committed to insuring that the Makos remain the dominant competitive swimming team from New Orleans to Tallahassee.

Teri Atzhorn, Head Coach: Coach Teri has been with the Makos since the fall of 2000.  She came to The Club from Wichita Falls, TX.  Teri has an extensive competitive swimming and coaching background.  She began her competitive swimming career with the Cincinnati Marlins, and she swam with the Marlins through high school.  Teri also attended and swam for Ohio Wesleyan University.  She achieved numerous All-American honors, competed in a number of National Championship meets and qualified for the 1976 Olympic Trials in the 100M Breaststroke.  Teri has been a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for a number of teams, including the Indian Hills Swim Club, Ohio Wesleyan University, the Bolling Air Force Base Swim Team, the Fairfax County Masters, and the Wichita Falls Seals.  Teri and her husband Dave have two children, Andy and Aileen.

Jacquie Diehl, Bronze Coach:  Jacquie has been a part of the Club staff for a while now.  She joins the Club Makos staff using her extensive swimming talents with the Bronze Group and the Summer Swim League.  Jacquie played water polo for the University City High School in St. Louis, Ms.  She received many awards such as the MVP Award as a freshman and continued to play water polo for 3 additional years.  She also played on the Daisy Water Polo Club.  She swam competitively in High School and placed in the State High School Championships in the 500 Freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley.  She has helped with many various swim lesson programs during her High School and College years.

Jacquie earned her college degree in Business Administration.  However, I think she will probably have to wait until her daughters Gabby and Lexie allow her some time to pursue a career in that field.  They keep Mom pretty busy; we can only hope they will channel that energy into the water as their Mom did.  Jacquie moved to Gulf Breeze from St. Louis 2 1/2 years ago.  She enjoys participating in triathlons, playing tennis, and swimming.  Jacquie looks forward to working with the children on the Makos Swim Team.

Andrew Tucker, Dry Land Coach:  Tucker brings to the team more than seven years of personal training experience.  He has an extensive training background in personal training and group fitness. He will complete his masters in Sports Medicine at the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama in July 2006.  He has trained numerous athletes participating in various sports ranging from swimming, bodybuilding, basketball, soccer, and football. Tucker is from Gulf Breeze and graduated from Gulf Breeze High School in 1991.  He played football and ran track during his High School years.  He continued football and track at the colligate level and competed for the United States National Bobsled team from 1995-1998 and again in 1999-2002.  We are very fortunate to have him on our staff.
